How Room Color Can Affect Children’s Mood

No wonder children’s rooms are repainted again and again - Children grow and change and so do their taste and feelings. Colors are the most important element to take into account when it comes to organizing a kid’s room. Color has the ability to inspire, soothe, excite, or even irritate children. Picking out the right color for the room will help you create the best environment for your children.

Red

Red has the ability to increase blood pressure and appetite. However, too much exposure to red color encourages aggressive behavior in some children. Red decorations paired with neutral colors will create a well-balanced color scheme, motivating, and energizing children.

Yellow

Yellow is associated with the sun and the feeling of happiness and joy. Some studies have shown that yellow improves concentration and memory in children. Beware of using too much yellow, though. The color can be a bit stimulating, interfering with children’s sleep. Yellow works well when it is paired with gray, blue, and green. The balance will give children positive energy in the daytime and a nice sleep at night.

Orange

Orange has the ability to help children become more outgoing and confident. As with other colors, too much orange might have the opposite effect. Try pairing soft shades of orange with green and cream colors to avoid irritating children’s mood.

Pink

One of the top room paint ideas for children is pink. This color is calming, having a positive effect on both sexes. Try to pair pink with contrasting colors to refresh the atmosphere as children grow.

Blue/Sky Blue

Just like pink, blue is a popular color for children's rooms. Having the opposite effect of red, blue decreases anxiety and is the perfect choice for children who experience tantrums. Try to pair it with warm colors to avoid depressive vibes caused by an overabundance of blue.

Purple

Purple is one of the most interesting room colors for children. Having a calming effect, purple can also be a stimulating color. This color inspires sensitivity and empathy in children.

Grey

Choosing grey for a child’s room can be problematic. Too much grey might trigger feelings of loneliness in children. If you want to use grey in your kid’s room, pair it with yellow to create a modern and interesting design.

To sum up, we should show moderation when it comes to painting a kid’s room. Every color has its benefits, affecting children’s psychological and physical condition.
